Nobody knows for sure
where Gatamache came from, but it's
assumed she was abandoned as a baby on
the Parthenian Hills across the forest
from Themiskyra. Apparently raised by
animals (debate still rages as to
precisely which species), she survived
as a feral predator for several years
before being spotted on the outskirts of
Themiskyra. She was initially mistaken
for a wild animal, but after a climactic
battle involving Ess and a sharpened
fruit knife, her true identity was
discovered.
Gatamache is now an
Amazon-in-training, adopted by
Ekphobippe. While she has yet to adapt
to life among humans, and still lacks
the power of speech, her surprising
strength and agility - as her adoptive
sister has already discovered - give her
the potential to be a great warrior.
